Now for the sad news:
A Rhinelander soldier has died in the line of duty.
Sgt. Ryan Adams was a member of the 951st Sapper Company. The Department of Defense has not yet released details, but it is believed Adams died Thursday in Afghanistan. The 26-year-old was in his second tour of duty.
Adams was a 2001 graduate of Rhinelander High School. He played football, golf and baseball in his time at RHS. Staff members said Friday that Adams was a hard worker who was respectful and always had time for people.
This young man was a classmate to my two younger daughters. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this young brave mans family and friends.
Thanks to all the young men and women who have been fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, we would not be able to say we were a Free country if not for these brave men and women who serve not only one tour of duty but also sign up for more. I also have a lot of respect for the families that have spouses serving in the military. I know firsthand how hard it is to keep doing everything daily what you need to do, plus worry about your loved ones who are in danger everyday. My son-in-law will be going to Afghanistan by the middle of October of the month. Stay safe Clarence. We all love you…….
