Today in Irish History

2009~ County Clare’s “Cliffs of Moher” are nominated for the global online campaign to find the “New Seven Wonders of Nature in 2011”. The Cliffs stretch for 5 miles and rise up to 700 ft above the Atlantic Ocean; they take the name from a ruined promontory for “Mothar” which was demolished during the Napoleonic wars to make room for a signal tower.

I have been to the cliffs twice and each time it was like a religious experience. Such amazing natural beauty. If you are planning on a trip to Ireland, you should not miss visiting the Cliffs of Moher and going to the tower and also the Visitor Centre.
