Waiting Lady

Ardgillan Castle
Location: Balbriggan – Ardgillan Castle, bridge in garden over railway known as The Lady’s Stairs

Further Comments: This phantom woman is said to be waiting for her husband to return. He was a keen swimming, but drowned one night, leaving his wife on the bridge awaiting his return. One version of the story says that whoever sees the ghost on Halloween will be picked up and thrown into the ocean.
Iveagh House
The Cross at the Window
Location: Dublin – Iveagh House, St Stephen’s Green
Type: Other
Date / Time: Every Holy Thursday (reoccurring)
Further Comments: A cross would once manifest upon a window pane facing the square, visible to those walking by the property. It is reported that crowds would gather hoping to see the unearthly crucifix.

Robert Emmet

Location: Dublin – Brazen Head public house
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Rebel leader Robert Emmet is said to have used the Brazen Head for meetings until executed in 1803. His ghost is said to remain, still on the look out for enemies.
Boyd’s Dog Returns
Glasnevin Cemetary
Location: Dublin – Glasnevin Cemetery
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: The ghost of a Newfoundland dog sometimes appears at the grave of John McNeill Boyd. After Boyd drowned, the dog refused to leave his master’s grave and slowly staved to death. The loyal hound is still seen in the area, and also at St Patrick’s Cathedral.
